Confused But Cute Wedding Favors!

When my boyfriend finally proposed to me I couldn't wait to get the planning started.One thing I couldn't figure out was what wedding favors were.I went shopping for them any way,and just bought cute things that went with what i'm looking for.Which I found so many really cute and unique things,but I still don't really know what a favor is?
